Penn State Behrend offers a variety of housing options to meet the needs of a diverse student body. Lawrence, Niagara, and Perry Halls are traditional halls that house two first-year students per bedroom with a common area bathroom on each wing. Almy Hall features double-bedroom suites while Ohio Hall offers four-person suites for first-year and upperclass Honors students.
The Behrend apartment complex, built in 1985-87, consists of nine buildings and houses 288 students. Eligible upperclass students enjoy the benefits of apartment living, conveniently located right on campus.
Housing and Food Services strives to provide a safe, inclusive, comfortable, and supportive living environment for all students residing on campus. We offer the option of gender-neutral housing for students who, because of gender identify or gender expression, prefer this option. This allows students who identify as transgender* and gender non-confirming* the ability to choose a roommate of any gender.

Housing and Food Services employs general maintenance employees to work on daily and routine residence hall problems. However, some problems are beyond the skill level of our employees and require outside vendors to complete the repairs. Housing and Food Services has contracts with other Penn State departments and vendors to address certain areas, such as telephone service, cable TV, Ethernet connections, laundry facilities, and card access.
Everyone living in a residence hall room is responsible for the condition of that room at the time of check-out. It is important for roommates to develop a plan together for cleaning and getting the room back to its original move-in state.
Penn State Behrend offers a variety of on-campus housing options. From traditional residence halls, large suites, to double-room suites, there is sure to be a room that fits your needs.
Penn State Behrend offers an opportunity for students interested in living with others who share common interests and goals. Special Living Options (SLOs) are open to all students who have an interest in one of the themes. Students interested in an SLO can contact the Housing and Food Service Office for more information about how to request an SLO.
Penn State Housing and Food Services is committed to offering safe and secure buildings for resident students.
As more students are admitted to Penn State, the demand for on-campus housing increases. Once all regular housing spaces are filled, students will be assigned to supplemental housing space. Use of supplemental space allows Housing and Food Services to accommodate as many students as possible.
